As summer winds down and September approaches, it’s natural for both parents and students to feel a mix of anticipation and anxiety. New grades, new teachers, and new routines can feel overwhelming—even for the most confident learners. But as I often remind the families I work with: back-to-school doesn’t have to be stressful if we focus on connection first. Start with Routines, Not Academics Many families worry about whether their child will be “ready” for school. But readiness isn’t just about academics—it’s about rhythm. Re-establishing consistent routines—bedtime, wake-up, meals, screen time—creates a sense of predictability and safety. Children thrive when they know what to expect.
