Study Tips

Study Tips for Focus and Completion
When trying to accomplish homework completion, studying and review, knowing about how the brain works and awareness of your own brain’s strengths are key!
We know that sometimes even opening a book can be a herculean effort.
Tips:
Environment:
Be aware of the environment in which you study. Some people need an absence of visual and auditory stimulation. Others require auditory stimulation.  Music or radio can be very helpful quietly in the back ground. It is good to discover what benefits you the most.
Set a Timer:
When finding difficulty with motivation, try setting a timer for 5 minutes to see how much you can get done in that short amount of time. Keep setting the timer as you proceed.  The timer can be your best friend.
Emotional Hook:
Another good tip is finding the emotional hook to an assignment.  Find inspiration, find something to feel about.
 Just start writing:
When in doubt, just start writing something, anything! Even if it doesn’t pertain to what you are working on. This can help to get the flow going.
Physical Exercise:
Exercise prior to sitting down to work also is a great way to stimulate the brain.  Increased blood flow helps to increase brain energy.
